Good news!

I thought my BCLT Summer School experience in 2011 would be a once-in-a-lifetime thing, until this year they introduced an advanced Japanese-to-English workshop, specifically aimed at people who had attended the summer school before (or have ‘equivalent translation experience’).

I found out this week that I’m one of the lucky people who has been offered a place, so this July I’m going back to Norwich to spend a week arguing about literary translation with workshop leader Jeffrey Angles, author Matsuda Aoko, and nine (I think) other translators. I’ll be meeting up with some old friends and hopefully making some new ones, learning an awful lot about translation and about being a translator, and generally having a wonderful time. I can’t wait.
